How the Calculator Works

The calculation separates housing from other everyday expenses. It combines a city-level rental benchmark with Eurostat price-level data for general household consumption.

You can compare:

  • Estimated monthly budgets
  • Rental costs and rent share
  • Non-housing living expenses
  • Price levels between countries
  • Local currencies and indicative euro values

If your city is not listed, select “Other city” and enter the monthly rent manually.

Compare Living Costs Across Europe

The same monthly income can provide a very different standard of living across Europe. Housing, food, transport, utilities and everyday services may cost considerably more in one country than another.

The calculator can help you evaluate relocation plans, international job offers, remote-working destinations and personal budgets. Results are estimates and should be considered together with your income, taxes and individual spending habits.

Important Notice

City rents are indicative benchmarks and may refer to different dwelling sizes, locations, rental segments and reference periods. Currency conversions are approximate. The calculator provides general information and does not constitute financial advice.
